Sydney: A Flying Visit

In February, I had a few of my friends over from London visiting Australia and I wanted to share a few highlights of what we got up to in Sydney. It’s mostly a photo diary to show you how pretty Sydney is!

After the many, many brunches in Melbourne, we flew over to Sydney for even more munching! We roamed around the CBD quite a bit and hit up a few cafes, plus all the $1 slushies you can get in Aus before going back to the UK. I don’t know why the slushies in the UK are so expensive and have such boring flavours! I’m going to miss the $1 slushies 😔

We really enjoyed walking around Surry Hills, as it reminded us of Melbourne with all the independent cafes and houses. If you’re in the area, go to Sample Coffee for a quick ☕️ fix 👍🏼

Cockatoo Island

Another place we managed to explore was Cockatoo Island with Michael Turtle, another fellow travel blogger, who Joe met at the Institue of Code in Bali.

You can actually get a really good view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the island, which is only a 20 minute water taxi from Darling Harbour, right near the Sydney Opera House.

Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk

Last year, when we went to Sydney we only made a quick stop to the Iceberg Pools, before heading off to the Blue Mountains. But I knew my friends wanted to spend a good amount of time walking around Bondi, beside the beaches, so this was perfect.

This is a highly recommended walk to do if you have enough time to spend in the area, as it’s a very casual relaxed walk.

A few other highlights I wanted to mention are going to see the Bird Cages in Angel Place and eating good cheap Pho at the Casino! My friends also went on a day trip tour to the Blue Mountains, as well as the Kangariffic Tour, which included seeing koalas and kangaroos and eating cheese and chocolate all in one day. They absolutely loved is and counted as one of their favourite days in Australia.

It’s always great fun to see Sydney, as it’s a really pretty city with so much to do. We were also really luckt to have had perfect weather while we were there, which was a bonus! Though we did technically have our flight from Melbourne to Sydney cancelled due to the rain at the very start of the trip, but let’s just forget about that…

We’re considering doing a sneaky flight to Sydney in April, before we leave Australia and head back to the UK. If you can recommend anything that we haven’t done yet, let us know in the comments! 👇🏼
