Taranaki Falls + Whanganui River, Ruapehu

Uh oh. I broke the Fujifilm X-T2 and Canon 7D Mark II whilst pushing their weather sealing to the limit at Taranaki falls in Ruapehu, New Zealand.

Massive thanks to our accommodation providers, Powderhorn Chateau.

Thanks to Canoe Safaris for the trip up the Whanganui river.

Cameras are merely tools to capture images and tell stories. On a trip to Taranaki falls in Ruapehu, New Zealand; I pushed the Fujifilm X-T2 and Canon 7D Mark II to their weather-sealed limits. I wanted to document the walk and showcase the waterfall in the misty rain, but unfortunately the weather-sealing wasn’t quite as good as I had hoped.

I’m fully aware that I was pushing these to their upper limits and was doing so, so that you don’t have to. Hopefully now you’ll have an idea of just how much water you shouldn’t expose your cameras to. I’m still incredibly psyched for the shots we got on the day and very pleased with the final outcome, but unfortunately it was at the cost of one camera breaking and the other taking a few extra days of recovery.
